A Day in My Life as a University student

Hi everyone,
Today, I wanted to take you through a typical day in my life as a university student—something calm, productive, and occasionally unpredictable. Let’s dive into it!

My day usually begins early, around 6:00 AM. I love starting the day with a bit of movement, so I try to hit the gym first thing in the morning. There’s something energizing about exercising while the world is still quiet—it really sets the tone for the rest of the day.

After the gym, I head back home and jump into the shower before having breakfast. Then comes my favorite part of the morning: coffee. It’s my little ritual to sit with my coffee and mentally prepare for the day ahead before heading off to my lectures.

Most days are filled with regular classes at the university. On days when I have lab sessions, though, the routine shifts a bit. I make sure to pack my white lab coat and the tools we need for the session—things like safety glasses and lab equipment (in German, we call them “Instrumente,” but I’m still figuring out the exact English term!). Labs usually start at 2 PM and can go on until 6 PM, which makes them pretty intense. But they’re also some of the most exciting parts of my week, where I get hands-on experience and try out real experiments.

Around midday, there’s usually a one-hour lunch break. That’s when I catch up with a couple of friends and we head to the university cafeteria. The options are great—there’s always something for everyone, whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or prefer meat. It’s one of those moments where we can just eat, talk, and take a breather before heading to our next lecture.

Not every day is packed from start to finish. Some days, we finish earlier and I either head home to cook (it’s definitely more budget-friendly than eating out every day) or we study together in the library. It really depends on the mood, the workload, and whether there’s an exam around the corner.

Once I’m home, my evenings are more low-key. If there’s time, I’ll study a bit more, but I also make space for a bit of self-care. My skincare routine helps me unwind—washing my face, brushing my teeth, and just preparing to rest after a full day. Cleaning the apartment is usually a weekend thing, if I have time for it.

And that’s pretty much it. A normal, balanced, slightly hectic—but fulfilling—day in my life as a student.
